Systems Supports General Availability of Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 R2 with the Release of Interop Secure Shell
Redmond, WA – March 1, 2006 Interop
Systems, a leading provider of solutions for interoperability between Microsoft
Windows, UNIX and Linux, today
announced new solutions that support
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2. To
complement the computer manufacturers’ “general availability” of Windows Server 2003 R2, Interop Systems is releasing
Interop Secure Shell – a new product for running secure client and server console
and file transfer sessions between Windows, UNIX and Linux
systems. Interop Secure Shell builds on the new Windows Subsystem for
UNIX-based Applications (SUA) available with R2.
“Microsoft’s
announcement that UNIX capabilities are now included with Windows Server 2003 R2 is a validation for us that
the UNIX / Windows interoperability space is an area of major interest for
customers,” said Bill Miller, president of Interop Systems. “Interop Systems
is in a prime position to leverage that interest and extend the
interoperability solution set to further meet the needs of customers.”
“Interop
Systems has been a valued provider of tools and services for customers
looking to run UNIX applications on the Windows platform,” said Jeff Price, Senior Director in the Windows Server
Division at Microsoft. “Microsoft welcomes these new solutions that
will help Windows be more approachable for UNIX customers.”
Interop Secure Shell
Interop
Secure Shell consists of an SSH server and SSH client programs for Windows Server 2003 R2 with the new SUA installed
and other Windows platforms that are running Microsoft Windows Services for
UNIX (SFU). The SSH protocol is an industry standard for establishing highly
secure remote console and file transfer sessions between virtually all types
of operating systems. Interop Secure
Shell includes a server program that runs on Windows and allows remote SSH
clients to connect to the server with interactive console sessions or file
transfer sessions. The product also includes client programs to connect to
remote SSH servers. The client programs include a terminal console for secure
remote sessions as well as a graphical interface for secure “drag and drop”
file transfer.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing
for Interop Secure Shell, which includes both the SSH client programs and SSH
server, starts at $59, with volume and site license pricing available on
request. Interop Secure Shell is available
immediately.
